This is a limited edition GMP 1:6 scale diecast model of a 189 cubic inch Offenhauser “Offy” Turbocharged racing engine and gearbox. The model is approximately 6.5 inches long, 4.5 inches wide, and weighs about 5 pounds. It includes a display plaque and a base measuring 7 inches by 9 inches with felt pads. The “Offy” engine, known for dominating open-wheel racing for nearly 50 years, could produce over 1000 horsepower with turbocharging. Despite Ford’s entry into the scene in 1963, the Offy remained competitive until the mid-1970s. The last Championship win for the Offy was in 1978 at Trenton in Gordon Johncock’s Wildcat race car. This collectible model, requiring light assembly, makes a splendid decorative piece for a desk or man cave.
